  • Meet Osvaldo Sampaio

Three generations dedicated to growing wool

The Sampaio family’s tradition of growing wool started with Osvaldo’s grandfather. After years of working hard, the Sampaio family had the opportunity of owning their own establishment, Santa Ines, located in Artigas, the northern department of the country.

"The decision of growing wool in our family was my grandfather’s, long before we had the opportunity to work in what is ours."

Osvaldo is an example of how the countryside life enriches one’s life:

“The simplicity of the people, the tranquility that we have, in other words… we have nature and purity in the countryside.”

Osvaldo manages a flock of 1.800 sheep in 2.500 hectares of land. He only travels throughout the farm by horseback, avoiding negative impact to the environment. Santa Inés is RWS and Origen certified.

Lastly, he concludes caring for others and our environment in a single principle:

“Well-being for everything. It is part of a basic principle that is, not to do to others what you would not like them to do to you.”

He, as all of our Origen Growers is an example of work driven by passion.
